About Us

Kitchen Cupboard was founded in 1985 as a small boutique kitchen/homewares and gift shop. It was then run by the same owners for 19 years until August 2004 when it was taken over by Lyn Steele and her family.

They had big plans, and in September of the same year they moved across the road to larger premises and reopened the new look Kitchen Cupboard. In October 2005, just after it's 1st birthday, Kitchen Cupboard saw its next expansion when a wall was knocked over into the small office next door. This only made a small increase in size to the shop, but doubled the window frontage to Seventh Street and created more room to showcase the ever growing range of cookware that was on display.

Kitchen Cupboard cruised along nicely with its ever growing popularity for the next two years. Murray Bridge was enjoying somewhere to go for all their homeware needs and gifts for family & friends. Customers were continuously saying "I can't wait to come back here when my house/kitchen is finished" or "I know where to come next Christmas for my shopping, I won't have to go to Adelaide". Something else that was regularly asked by customers was, "How long have you been here?". This was asked not only by newcomers to town, but also those who had lived in Murray Bridge all their lives! It was becoming evident that people in the town were walking around with their eyes shut, and not venturing far from the main street.

It was in mid 2007 that a shop became vacant in the main street and it didn't take long for Lyn and her family to decide it was time to move again... After weeks of renovation and a lot of late nights unpacking and displaying the new stock, the once again revamped Kitchen Cupboard was ready to open its doors again.

The grand opening, in September 2007, was an exciting day for everyone, especially the customers. Twice the size of the old shop, there was so much more to see and more room to see it in. Beautifully arranged fake flowers and grasses dispersed amongst shelves of crockery, glasses, mugs and cutlery. Cabinets stacked high with the best range of kitchenware imaginable and a bakers delight with gadgets galore. Fair trade coffee and delicious food overflow from the pantry cupboard, too tempting to leave behind. It is all this and more that the customers are still enjoying and brings them back time and time again.

Now its your turn to experience everything that Kitchen Cupboard has to offer. We hope our online store offers as much as the real thing.
